POLITICAL
Since the election of Donald Trump as president of the United States, like many, I’ve witnessed the steady decline of morals and ideals I thought were shared by the majority of Americans. Although I’ve always done politically-informed work, the Trump era ignited a new fury within me that fueled a body of work. The Trump pieces juxtapose childhood toys with Trump’s rhetoric to highlight the dysfunctionality of his government.
These new works round out a body of work about American politics that I started almost 15 years ago. Each piece uses the ephemera of the American Dream to question the actions of a government that subverts that dream.
