FIRE MAN DEATH
Fire Branded salvaged oak wood, 2021.
26 x 21 x 9 inches
Before it was felled by a winter storm, the Boundary Oak grew for 325 years in a world increasingly harmed by the actions of man. Proliferating atmospheric carbon has triggered a global climate change, the local impact of which is a West that burns out of control every summer. I chose three simple words – “Man,” “Fire” and “Death” – and decided to use branding irons to burn them into the wood of the Boundary Oak. Man is the cause, fire is the method, and death is inevitable.
