POPPY SEED

Poppy Seed continues my exploration on the topic of drug addiction. During my previous career in community mental health, I worked with a large number of individuals who
used and abused illicit drugs. I worked with drug addicts through a court-based drug diversion program for 10 years. I have also worked with over the years many chronically
mentally individuals with cooccurring substance abuse issues. The glass medical containers used in this piece hold poppy seeds and a single hypodermic needle, focusing attention on heroin addiction.
